Teaching is a profession that can be extremely rewarding yet highly challenging, especially when you are expected to teach a wide spectrum of students in today's classroom. More often than not, you are left to your own devices on how to help your students with a wide range of learning disabilities and mental health issues. According to the Canadian Mental Health Association (2015), 20% of Canadians will directly be impacted with a mental illness in their lifetime and it will indirectly impact all Canadians sometime during their life. Since schools are the microcosm of our society at large, these statistics are both relevant and applicable to your classroom. During the webinar, Mark will provide you with: - practical ideas and suggestions for teaching about mental illness curriculum guidelines and how it fits within the current curriculum requirements - ready-to-use activities that address issues such as the impact of stigma on the lives of people with mental illness, and types, causes and treatments of mental illness - an opportunity to meet and interact with a person who has experienced mental illness first-hand - evaluation tools to help you pick up on early warning signs - suggestions for resources and supports for you and your students
