Al has been a management consultant since the early 70's. He is a management trainer, strategic planning facilitator, evaluator, and is known by some as an 'expert' in governance. He is the foudner of the week long workshop "Managing and Leading in the Non-Profit Sector' that has been offered in Canada on a continuous basis every year since the mid-70s and has been has been transferred to many parts of the world. The worhsop and manual has been translated into French, Spanish, Indonesian and there is even a 'peasants' version in Africa.
Al's Board Development workshops begin with a comprehensive, 80 item diagnostic questionnaire completed in advance. Al presents the survey results during the workshop, identifies areas of strength and areas in need of improvement. He then facilitates the development of action plans for top priority items based on best practices.
