Canada’s sport system continues to experience high drop-out rates amongst female athletes during adolescence.
Research led by Dr. Catherine Sabiston at the University of Toronto followed 500 adolescent female athletes over three years, and discovered body image emotions, and weight commentary and body talk from parents, peers, coaches, teammates and opponents, contributed to poor sport experiences, ultimately contributing to drop-out.
This webinar will discuss the research findings and provide recommendations for coaches and other sport leaders to help reduce body image challenges.
