Shattering the Glass: Females in Sport Conference
Conference aims to inspire female athletes and sport leaders
(Halifax, November 13, 2018)- On Saturday, November 17, sport stakeholders from across the province will meet at the Best Western Bridgewater for the first annual conference focused on female in sport and leadership. “Shattering the Glass” attendees can expect to learn about nutrition and body image, team building, stress management and inclusion.
“This has been a fun collaboration between the Canadian Sport Centre Atlantic, Sport Nova Scotia, Communities Culture and Heritage and some of our community members here in the South Shore” said Regional Sport Consultant, Nicole Kenney. “Our goal is to gain enough interest to offer the event in a new region of the province every year.” This is the first sport conference run by Nova Scotian’s targeted directly towards women in the industry. The objective is to build confident female mentors and keep girls actively engaged in sports and physical activity.
Olympian Ann Dodge will lead the discussion along with keynote speaker, Genevieve Orton who will talk about the hurdles she faced during the years leading up to the Olympic Games. “Shattering the Glass” will run from 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. and lunch is included in the registration price. The event is open to all sport stakeholders in Nova Scotia, and those interested can register online at thelocker.coach.ca.
