Thursday, January 22, 2015 - 09:00

The Canadian Sport for Life (CS4L) National Summit will be taking place from January 27-29, 2015 at the Hilton Lac-Leamy hotel in Gatineau-Ottawa and brings together leaders to enhance the quality of sport and physical activity in Canada.

What’s the conversation about this year?

  • Overview of Aboriginal Sport for Life – Long-Term Participant Development
  • Connecting the Dots between Policy and Practice on Quality Sport through Coach and Volunteer Training
  • Disability Legacy from the 2014 Commonwealth and 2015 Parapan American Games
  • How to Bring Quality Sport to Life: Integrating True Sport into Your Community
  • Small Credits, Big Results: Personalizing Coaching Development for the Future
  • Converting Athletes in the High Performance Pathway
  • Building a CS4L Model for Older Adults

SIRC is the place to find practical templates and resources on various governance structures including lessons learned at both the community and national level, that can help with incorporating CS4L principles and Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) programs into governance and strategic planning. Our newly launched website is home 1000’s of resources as well as links to over 45 National Sport Organization LTAD documents.

Sample topics include:

  • How do you integrate LTAD programs into your governance plan?
  • What does the board need to do to implement a strategic plan?
  • Who should be on the board and how do we recruit them?
  • Where the resources can be found: Sport Governance, Governance, Leadership and Policy on the SIRC website

This is just a sampling of what SIRC and the Summit has to offer so make sure you drop by and visit the onsite resource centre where we will be displaying various CS4L and LTAD materials both in print and online.
