2017 Alberta Sport Leadership Conference

The Alberta Sport Leadership Conference is a fabulous training and networking opportunity for the sport sector that is presented every two years. The theme of this year’s Conference is “Celebrating Sport in Alberta”. Throughout the Conference athletes, coaches, officials, leaders, event hosts and volunteers will be recognized for their contributions to Alberta’s sport system.
Jennifer Moss, an expert in Workplace Happiness, will launch the Conference on Thursday evening April 27th with a powerful opening keynote address, “Unlocking Happiness at Work” followed by the “Celebrating Sport in Alberta” Networking Social. The Conference continues Friday with a series of plenaries and concurrent workshops along with the always popular “Celebrating Sport in Alberta” Sport Recognition Awards Banquet with guest Master of Ceremonies 2014 Olympian; Gilmore Junio.
This year’s Conference sessions will focus on five key qualities of sport and are designed around select fundamentals including: Sport is led by Quality Coaches; Sport Organizations demonstrate Excellence; Sport Reflects the Principles of Athlete Development, Sport is Safe and Ethical; and Sport is Inclusive and Accessible to Under-Represented and Marginalized Populations. Featured presenters include representatives from Coaching Association of Canada, Sport for Life Society, CAAWS, Active for Life among others.
Saturday’s sessions will continue to focus on the five key qualities of sport along with demonstrations of partnerships and collaboration within the Alberta sport delivery system. A “Celebrating Sport in Alberta” closing luncheon will be hosted by Mark Tewksbury to celebration the achievements of Alberta’s 2016 Summer Olympians and Paralympian’s.
