On behalf of the Conference Organising Committee I look forward to welcoming you to the 24th Annual ANZSLA Conference in Adelaide, South Australia.

The theme of this year’s conference is ‘Crossing the Line’. The Committee is confident you will find many things of interest in the program which is set out below. It should cause you to reflect upon how, or when, the line may be crossed in terms of corruption, criminal or civil liability for onfield behaviour or bullying. Also to be discussed is the role of technology in determining if the line has been crossed, crossing national borders to play sport and racial vilification in sport. You will hear from a talented and experienced cross section of speakers and panellists.

The Committee hopes that you will attend the conference to participate in what will be an interesting and stimulating program, surrounded by plenty of opportunities to enjoy the warm hospitality that an ANZSLA Conference and Adelaide extends to its visitors.

One of the venues for our conference is the newly redeveloped Adelaide Oval. The State Government spent $535million on the redevelopment which was opened late in 2013 in time for the Ashes Test. This year an AFL match is played at the Oval each week of the season. The redevelopment has also created a venue capable of attracting events beyond sporting occasions. On the Saturday after our conference concludes, the Rolling Stones will commence their Australian and New Zealand tour by playing at Adelaide Oval.

The inaugural ANZSLA Sports Cup will involve a tennis competition on Wednesday afternoon, 22 October, at the Memorial Drive Tennis Complex, adjacent to Adelaide Oval. On Wednesday evening the Adelaide Rowing Club, located just over the Torrens River from Adelaide Oval on the city side, will host the welcome drinks.

On Thursday our conference will be in the new Riverbank Stand at Adelaide Oval, looking back across the river to the city. We will also have the conference dinner at Adelaide Oval on the Thursday evening.

On Friday the conference will move to the Next Generation Health Club adjacent to Adelaide Oval to enable the conference to proceed without too much interruption from the preparations for the Saturday concert.

The Committee has also arranged for tours through parts of Adelaide Oval and we encourage you to take the opportunity to look around this venue.

Come and enjoy the conference and enjoy Adelaide.

I and the Committee look forward to meeting each of you at the Conference.
