Imagine an Ontario sport and physical activity sector that reflects the diversity of Ontario itself, where everyone feels welcome, included, and valued as an athlete, participant, leader, coach, or volunteer.
On Saturday, May 23, 2015, SPORT4ONTARIO will host the 2015 Sport4All Sport and Diversity Summit at the 519 Community Centre. The Summit seeks to provide opportunities for leaders and members of the community involved in sport and physical activity to convene and discuss strategies foster diversity and inclusivity in Ontario’s sport sector.
The Summit will feature Heather Steel from the Institute for Canadian Citizenship as the keynote speaker. Heather will discuss the challenges and solutions of including new citizens in sport. The Summit will also feature three prominent workshop facilitators involved in various aspects of diversity in sport: Janice Forsyth (Western University), Kyle Rich (Western University), and a representative from PrideHouseTO!
The Sport and Diversity Summit is designed to ensure that participants leave the event with 1) understanding and awareness regarding how they can stay involved and contribute to diversity in sport and 2) knowing they have contributed and collaborated with other individuals working a variety of sectors to establish a working tool-kit to facilitate diversity and sport in communities.
We encourage all interested attendees to come and join the conversation with many others in the sport community passionate about fostering diversity and inclusivity in Ontario’s sport sector!
