Speaker: Kelly VanderBeek

Sharing stories from her experiences as an Olympic ski racer, broadcaster, and now Mom.

If you were to imagine the journey of how to become a history-making, world-class skier and Olympian, Kelly’s story would not be it. Coming from the unlikely town of Kapuskasing, Ontario and racing for the exceptionally small ski club, Chicopee, in Kitchener, Ontario, Kelly overcame not only geographical obstacles but physical ones as well. Battling injury and facing her fears going 140 km/hr on skis, Kelly became a world leader on the slopes.

Now a successful broadcaster and photographer, Kelly makes her living helping others tell their stories. Her post-athletic career is highlighted by her work on television in the last three Olympic Games where her work with the ‟Raising an Olympian” features left her with countless stories and anecdotes of advice as she now delves into motherhood herself.

Kelly’s strength is in her ability to connect with the people around her -- learning from them, and using those lessons as she leads herself, her family, and her sport into a new era.
