<p><strong><big>HOCKEY CANADA'S WORLD CUP OF HOCKEY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS</big></strong></p> <p>Hockey Canada is ecstatic to announce that, in conjunction with Team Canada's World Cup of Hockey Training Camp, we will be offering Development Programs to players of all ages and coaches of all levels. These development programs will run out of the Canadian Tire Centre; the same ice that our Canadian players will skate on against the <strong>United States</strong> on Saturday September 10th, 2016. As an added bonus, when you register for any World Cup of Hockey Development Program, you will be entered into a draw to win 1 of 10 pairs of tickets to the Canada vs. USA game on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at the Canadian Tire Centre! The Hockey Canada World Cup of Hockey Development Programs are open to male and female players and coaches of a variety of ages and skill levels. Please see below for an overview of each program and the eligibility requirements. For more information on a program, please click on the link to be directed to the program overview and registration page.</p> <p><strong><big>PLAYER PROGRAMS</big></strong></p> <p><strong>Learn to Skate</strong> Hockey Canada’s Learn to Skate program is designed to give children the best foundation of skating for the game of hockey. The program focuses on participation, basic skills and most importantly, FUN! The program is designed for beginners, between the ages of 4 to 7, who are hoping to improve their basic skating skills. <a href="https://event.hockeycanada.ca/EMS/Event.aspx?eid=abec873e-0c3f-45df-a089-914e49d124ff&lang=en-US">Click here to register for the Learn to Skate Program</a> <strong>Esso Fun Day</strong> Hockey Canada, in partnership with ESSO, continues to offer the top recruitment program for female hockey through the ESSO Fun Day Program. ESSO Fun Day is an introduction to female hockey for girls and women of all ages, it is designed to familiarize beginners to female hockey and its basic skills at no cost to the first-time participant. The focus of the ESSO Fun Day Program is to introduce the basic skills of hockey in a FUN, POSITIVE and NON-THREATENING environment. <a href="https://event.hockeycanada.ca/EMS/Event.aspx?eid=587505b2-26eb-4856-91a3-6043f527c32d&lang=en-US">Click here to register for the Esso Fun Day</a> <strong>Initiation Program</strong> Hockey Canada's Initiation Program makes children's first contact with hockey a safe and positive experience. It's a structured, learn-to-play hockey program designed to introduce beginners to the game's basic skills. It enables participants to become contributing members of a team effort, develop self-confidence, and experience a sense of personal achievement. These goals are achieved in an atmosphere of fun and fair play. <a href="https://event.hockeycanada.ca/EMS/Event.aspx?eid=10a29b24-b896-40db-8f2f-7707916a2f54&lang=en-US">Click here to register for the Initiation Program</a> <strong>Goaltender Development Sessions</strong> Hockey Canada's Goaltending Skill Development Session is a one-hour program open to boys and girls playing in the Atom to Midget divisions (1999 - 2006 birthdays). The primary objective of the session is to provide a vehicle for goaltenders and coaches to enhance development of fundamental goaltending specific skills required to play the game of hockey. <a href="https://event.hockeycanada.ca/EMS/Event.aspx?eid=4c1bbbc3-a0fb-4ce9-94cd-47fd98a9e8ad&lang=en-US">Click here to register for the Goaltender Development Session</a> <strong>Skill Development Camps</strong> Hockey Canada Skills Development Camps are a one-day event open to boys and girls playing in the Novice, Atom, Peewee and Bantam divisions (2002 - 2008 birthdays). Leading the next generation and growing as a coach with High Performance guest speakers and an afternoon workshop that will challenge and motivate you going into the season.<strong>Coaches that attend Bridging the Gap: Developing our next High Performance Females as well as the Video Coaching & the Use of Technology are eligible for 3 Professional Development Points towards Certification Maintenance.</strong> <a href="https://event.hockeycanada.ca/EMS/Event.aspx?eid=6de06da2-12b6-4bef-8784-04949fa138eb&lang=en-US">Click here to register for Bridging the Gap: Developing our next High Performance Females</a> <strong>Video Coaching & the Use of Technology</strong> Team Canada Video Coaches will be on hand to discuss the importance of Video and how technology can be used in hockey. This clinic is designed for high performance coaches looking to understand how they can utilize technology and analytics. The ultimate outcome is improved athlete development through the establishment of a national coach mentoring program. Coaches participating in this program will have selection between <strong>Skills 1 and Skating 1</strong>. Each program focuses on a practical session on teaching various skating drills and skills. This proactive approach will also open the doors of communication and provide a non-threatening environment for coaches to further pursue a mentor.
