<p>Are you interested in learning how to bring the high performance experience to recreational athletes? Or learning about intensity zones for aerobic training? Learn about all of this and more at the PEAK Centre PD Day!</p> <p>The <a href="https://www.peakcentre.ca/">PEAK Centre </a>for performance, one of six high performance athlete testing centres in Canada, is hosting a special CSEP PD Day. After graduating Dustin spent several years working in international insurance before he decided it was time to make a career change.<br /> <br /> Dustin's decision to pursue a career in Physical Therapy was influenced by the positive experiences he had as a patient when recovering from numerous sports and training related injuries.<br /> <br /> Dustin is a graduate of the University of Alberta with a Master's of Science in Physical Therapy. His post graduate courses include: ITPT certification in concussion management through IMPACT, LearnIMS dry needling course, and SFMA (Selective Functional Movement Assessment). <br /> <br /> Dustin’s treatment philosophy is threefold: Treat the symptoms of the injury or dysfunction, determine the factors that lead to the injury or dysfunction, and address those factors through a combination of education, modalities, manual therapy techniques, and corrective exercise. <br /> <br /> Dustin is passionate about treating individuals who are motivated to improve their physical well-being. Whether you are an elite athlete, a weekend warrior, or someone who wants their body to be performing at its best, Dustin is here to help<br /> </p> <p><strong>Sieger Roorda</strong></p> <p>Mental Performance Consultant: Canadian Sport Psychology Association, Master of Human Kinetics: Intervention & Consultation University of Ottawa, Bachelor of Science: Psychology Major Concordia University<br /> <br /> Sieger Roorda is rapidly becoming a well-respected mental performance consultant. A former national level flatwater kayaker and canoe-kayak coach, Sieger has a passion for finding ways to better himself and his athletes. He is the mental performance coach of the nationally acclaimed University of Ottawa's men’s basketball team. Sieger’s excellent work and positive reputation in the field allowed him to expand his position to mental performance coordinator for all varsity teams at the University. From his own sporting background to his current work, Sieger now boasts immense experience with both team and individual sports, with committed clients ranging from performance realms such as soccer, football, basketball, swimming, rugby, track and field, canoe/kayak, ice hockey, combat sports, and musical performers. He finds his personal satisfaction from helping others pursue their passions and achieve their goals though a client-first approach. Sieger works out of Ottawa and Montreal<br /> </p> <p><strong>Ken Brunet B.Sc. CSEP-CEP</strong></p> <p>Ken Brunet obtained his exercise science degree at the University of Ottawa and is a Certified Exercise Physiologist with the Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology. He was the director of the Exercise Physiology Lab at the Ottawa Sport Science Centre for 7 years and is currently co-founder and President of the Peak Centre for Human Performance. Ken specializes in training monitoring, training plan development and consulting for many National Olympic and professional team athletes and coaches. While having been part of many sport science committees for National Sport Organizations, Ken also teaches, consults and gives seminars to various groups such as: physical education teachers, national coaching program, college level courses, personal trainer, fitness instructors etc. Ken is also the founder of the Peak Centre Academy, a private school for athletes. He is responsible for the full athletic development of student/athletes ranging from grade 5 to grade 12.<br /> </p> <p><strong>Ed McNeely, MS, CSCS.</strong></p> <p>Ed received his Masters degree in Exercise physiology from the University of Ottawa in 1994 and has been involved in the strength and conditioning industry for 30 years. Ed has been a consultant to 21 Canadian National and professional sports teams, including 39 Olympic and Paralympic medalists. He is currently the Strength & Conditioning Lead at the Canadian Sport Institute Ontario. conditioning consultant to the Canadian Women’s Rowing team. Ed is the author of five books, Power Plyometrics, The Resistance Band Workout Book, One Hundred Strength Exercises, Training for Rowing, and Skillful Rowing and has contributed to several others. He has published over 100 articles on training and athlete conditioning covering topics such as strength training, plyometrics, making weight, assessing fitness, speed and power development, planning and periodization, and aerobic fitness. He is a frequent resource for other writers, acting as an expert for articles in Muscle & Fitness, Outside Magazine, the Georgia Tech Sports Medicine Newsletter, the Rowing News, the Globe and Mail, Ottawa Citizen and the Discovery Channel. Ed has an extensive background in performance and occupational research having been involved in studies that analyzed the physical demands of and developed fitness test protocols and standards for emergency medical technicians, prison guards, police officers, park wardens, firefighters, and military personnel, and has helped several high-profile companies develop fitness screening programs for their emergency response teams.<br /> <br /> Ed is currently a faculty member at the United States Sports Academy and is a frequent speaker at National and international sport and fitness conferences, having done over 75 presentations in the past 10 years at conferences such as the NSCA National Convention, the AAHPERD National Convention, the Society of Weight Training Injury Specialists Conference, ECA Sport and Fitness Conference, Coaching Association of Canada Conferences, Rowing Canada Conferences, Ontario Minor Hockey Association Clinics, Joy of Sculling Conferences, and Olympic Solidarity Conferences.</p> <p style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 10px; font-size: 15px; color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: Lato, sans-serif; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);"> </p>
