Dr. Norm O’Reilly, the Richard P. and Joan S. Fox Professor and Chair of the Department of Sports Administration at Ohio University and Senior Advisor with TrojanOne, will lead a session on developing a sponsorship program in an NSF. A valuable first step for NSFs looking to build a sponsorship program and a great reality check for those active in the market, the session will cover the basics of a solid sponsorship program, informed by both industry experience and cutting edge research in sponsorship marketing.

The 2014 COC webinar series will kick off on September 17 at 1pm Eastern with the first in a series of webinars on Revenue Generation in NSFs.  The webinar is the first in a series presented by the COC as part of the NSF Enhancement Initiative. The topic of the webinar series this year, Revenue Generation, was developed using data generated from the Deloitte NSF assessments.

Board Models and Structures will look at how boards can approach their roles and responsibilities in four different models of board governance. This presentation will highlight:

  • The benefits of a governance model that 'fits' your organization
  • For each model, what is required for it to work well and what to watch out for
  • Considerations in board composition including size, external directors, competencies and constituencies.

The webinar will answer questions:

Evaluating board performance, both of the group and of individual directors provides an opportunity for the board to assess its own effectiveness, to identify areas of strength and weakness, to set standards and performance expectations based on set criteria, to evaluate individual member performance, and if necessary, to develop remedial plans. When is the right time to do Board evaluation? Who should do it and how should it be done?
